The korma is good here, as is the plain rice and peshwari naan and the poppadoms and everything else that is plain. (I don't like exciting things, but I hear thery're good as well)(but I haven't been in a while)

We have visited INDIA HOUSE about 6 times in the past 14 months and I can surly say that I am very happy then when I went to this restaurant 2nd time with my friends on Friday evening 20th July 07,but I think because it was very busy on that day it could be the reason for the slow service. We were told by the waiter "short of staff sir, I am sorry, I give free drink, o.k.sir" o.k.?. He was doing his best to please us. Now its totally changed for the best. Be sure to book a table in advance. I would suggest it should be given a try now and let readers know of your experience.

After reading all the reviews below, i have noticed a downfall on sevice, I first went thier in July 07, and i have to agree on this. But shortly afterwards their has been a nice change and it has more ambience with a great cosy feel. The food has improved, and the set-menu is really worth it!

It has been years since I last went to the India House, and I was very disapointed. I booked, yet they could not find my booking when I arrived - not a big issue. When we were seated, the menu's were slapped on the table and the waiters were very 'off'. The bottles of Cobra were warm, and the popadoms were soggy. The food was little better, it was bland it all appeard to be very orange in colour. We wont be going back again.

Hats off to the India House for being the only curry house in Cambridge to do Mali Kofta. In India Mali Kofta is a very popular vegetarian dish, and it is a delight to see it in Cambridge at last. The version in the India House, of these vegetable dumplings in masalla, was maybe a bit nuttier and gingery than a traditional Mali Kofta in North India, but still a brave effort. The waiter reliably informs me that they can do Paneer Tikka, an other veggie favourite of mine. I haven’t tried this off-the-menu treat yet, but intend to on my next visit. The main annoyance in this restaurant, is the puce pink decor and the students with hideous Hampstead accents talking too loudly about nothing at all but them selves.

Not good, not good at all. Vindaloo was bland and tasteless. Side orders were passable, service was not up to standard. Not my favourite in any way. Also really expensive, the Kingfisher taps are dirty and the lager is off. Service- 3/10 Food - 4/10 Value - 2/10 not worth a visit - go to the Granta, it probably serves better curries!

I just noticed that in an earlier review I said that India House is one of my favourites. This is just to say that this is no longer the case. The last couple of times I went the food was not as good as I remembered the first time. Also the service was slow. It didn't bother me personally too much, but I have heard many other people comment about the slow service so it is probably worth mentioning.

The india house has good quality food. pity about the service. The curries regularly take 45 minutes or more to coem, even when the restaurant is apparently not busy. Can recommend the lassi creamy and comes in a pint glass. If your in the the mood for an unhurried and quality curry, this place is ideal, shame about the disinterested service. Speciality dishes involving veg like the spinach dishes or the vegetarian curries are always very good, and the dry dishes are always meaty. often too much rice and too little curry though.

An Indian, we ate with an English friend belonging to Cambridge, but had never come here. He found the food good but for us the cost was really a bit on the higher side. Food was tasty but portions were small.

We appreciated how fresh the vegetables were. The handling of the meat was above average, too. Pity that the dishes we tried (+ lassi, too) tended to be overly sugarly sweet - otherwise rather tasty. Location, service, atmosphere: good!

The food is excellent but they've recently raised their prices by ~30% across the board. I find this irritating so I've stopped recommending the place. There are plenty of fine alternatives. Maybe they'll learn their lesson if word gets out they've gone 'posh'.

Food that tastes of its constituent ingredients, and a pleasant airy atmosphere with views across the mill pond towards the Granta Pub. One of my favouites.
