A good dining experience. We started with puppadums which had obviously been freshly cooked, the chutneys were excellent too. We went for Chicken Tikka Biriani and Chicken Vindaloo both of which contained plenty of meat and were very tasty (although the Vindaloo was probably the mildest I've ever had). The Peshwari Naan was reasonably good but only contained a sprinkling of coconut by way of filling. Service was very prompt and polite. A thoroughly competent place!

Having recently relocated to Cambridge I have been keen to find a good curry house. Unfortunately so far the town seems to be sadly lacking. I have come across a very sad phenomenon in two curry houses so far, this being one of them. The use of PROCESSED chicken should be reserved for fast food restaurants! not in my curry. The restaurants will continue to serve this very poor substitute as long as we the patrons continue to eat there! On questioning the waiter as to the authenticity of the chicken, he replied that by staying that the chicken was of the finest quality!!! Needless to say I will be taking this further as I feel that this is wholly dishonest and insulting as and human being over the age of five knows the difference! If anyone reading this review could recommend a good curry house, which uses real chicken, I would greatly appreciate a recommendation.

The staff were friendly as alway but this time I felt the food was a bit under par. I ordered the "chefs special" which the waiter said was both lamb and chicken. Unfortunately when it arrived it didn't seem to have any lamb in it and was a bit bland overall. Ah well, I'll know next time.

Visted the Tandori Palace for my leaving do for work. All of us enjoyed the meals and this place lived up to is "bager" reputation. The staff were quick and the food was prompt. The side dishes were slightly cold, but food was hotter then expected so it all evened out.All dishes were very flavourful with a good variety. This place is up there for best curry in cambridge - but that's only an opinion...

Revisited a few weeks ago, having not been for over a year. What a nice surprise to find it is back to its former glory. I had Shahi Chicken Jeera Masala, which was delicious and not overly oily. In fact, everybody enjoyed their food, the service was good, and it seems to be a little busier during weeknights, which is good news.

Sweet as a nut. Extremely competent and friendly staff. The food was awesome and we even got a free meal for the birthday boy (greasy u know who u r!). It wasn't too expensive, service was good and overall an excellent venue. It puts the Mahal and the curry king to shame, compared to this they are shitholes.

Absolutely legendary - truly "the badger". We took a dozen or so lads and lasses down for a curry and had quite simply the best time. I think in our time we must have visted all of the curry houses in Cambridge and further afar but our best remains firmly The Palace. Service is prompt and friendly; the Phaal is to die for/after and the pasanda is an excellent choice for those not partaking of real curries. As to the ARSE (E for experience) discussion - it may have gone downhill but the mango chutney is the epitomy of the the genre and the highlight of the pre-curry culinary entertainment. Granted the Golden Curry comes in a close second with, in our experience, the Taj in close pursuit the curries are rarely up to the standard of The Palace: if I want a cheap curry served in next to no time then I'll go to The Regal. The Palace tho offers the best all round dining experience: no question on this one guv'nor! Rich M

We’ve been to the Tandoori Palace on a number of occasions, though not for a while until last Saturday. This visit, there was me, my wife, our two friends and our four collective children. Service was very friendly, commendably so given the children were, at first, a little emotional, later, somewhat excitable. Having said that, our order for a second round of drinks was very slow to be taken and slow to arrive, as was the bill when the meal was finished, so I’d not rate the service particularly highly.I can’t say I’m overly enamoured with the Palace’s ARS, but the poppadums were fine, and I was perfectly happy working my way through them with their (fairly standard) lime pickle. The food itself was good, though I felt my vegetable Ceylon was a little bland, aside from the heat. On previous visits, I have thought my curry to be somewhat lacking in flavour, also. The side dishes, though – we had aloo gobi and saag panneer – were absolutely delicious. I don’t remember ever having tasted better. I felt the panneer dish was a little light on the cheese, but it was so tasty I didn’t really care. The rice appeared a little bland (no food colourings in their pilau!) but was very tasty, so no complaints there, either. As a vegetarian, I sometimes feel hard done by when the menu offers nothing other than a thali or the vegetable side dishes. Though, on this occasion, I ordered a Ceylon curry, which was not on the menu, I would have been more than happy with a selection of their excellent side dishes, which were certainly the highlight for me on this visit.

A so-so to OK curry experience. I would question the Tandoori Palace's top spot. Some of the dishes were very salty. On quality of food alone, I've had much better at Pipasha and The Bengal.

I have just noticed that quite a few people recently have been commenting this place is going downhill. I was there this evening and in my opinion it is pretty much the same as ever. I notice that in earlier reviews I complained about slightly soggy spicy poppadoms, and meat less juicy than I would like. Those would be precisely my criticisms about tonight's meal, but otherwise everything was excellent (even the ARS was fine by my reckoning). Maybe a tad over-rated but still good.

The Awesome Red Stuff (ARS) they provide with the popadoms has been legendary for years, but I returned there a few weeks ago and was bitterly disappointed. Curry was not bad, but the Maharaj's ARS may now be superior.

The recent change of the main chef has really let us down. The standards are the lowest in recent years. We begged the restaurant manager to bring the old chef back. Meanwhile, we've started looking for a good curry house in Cambridge.

Took my wife to Tandoori Palace for her birthday and we had to wait for over an hour to be served.

We visit TP about three times a week (they know our order the minute we walk through the door). Having curry anywhere else in Cambridge is a disappointment. However, when the chef has a night off, which happens once or twice a week (there aren't specific days), then the food is (to be frank) bad.

Used to be my fav. curry house in Cambridge since it opened (it was close to where I lived as an undergrad!) due to location, friendly service and good food. However, I have been disappointed on my last two visits this year. Clearly (to me) the chef has changed, and has been replaced by someone not as good. A shame.

Unfortunately, here's another curry house in the Castle Hill area the follows the trend of excelling, then going downhill. Sad to say that whilst the ubiquitous red pickle is still as good as ever, the Chicken Tikka main course has been a source of illness (bad stomach cramps) to several of my friends in recent times. Two of them ate the same meal and both were quite ill the next day. Curries with sauce fare little better - whilst still tasty, they are almost always swimming in horrific quantities of oil. I'm afraid to say I'll be eating elsewhere in future...

Been back here a couple of times since I proclaimed it my favourite Indian Restaurant in Cambridge. Not so sure now, and I don't think I'll be going out of my way to visit it anymore. On one occasion the meat (unlike the first time I visited) was very dry. Worth a try if you happen to be in the area - I seldom am.

I had an excellent jafrezi here, and the bits of other main courses I managed to snaffle were similarly good, with the possible exception of the lababdar that was a bit too creamy for me. Other minor niggle was that the spicy podadoms were a bit soggy, but otherwise nothing at all to complain about. Service good. Pickles excellent - choice of 4 - including the bright red tamarind (that's what the waiter told us) pickle. First time I had been here and I was very impressed. As of yesterday, my favourite curry house in Cambridge.

I've been here on many occasion and I'm yet to have anything short of excellence. Service can be a little slow but its worth the wait.

This is my personal favourite curry place in Cambridge. The service is generally attentive with friendly staff, and they rarely seem to be full, probably due to its slightly out-of-the-way location. The food itself has been excellent on each of my many visits there, except once when the poppadums weren't fresh. Better still, it's the only place in Cambridge where you can get the Chef's special, unique pickle with your poppadums - chopped onion in a deep red sauce flavoured with coriander, garam masala and more. The curries themselves are flavourful and distinctive, with the hottest yet tastiest Jalfrezi I've ever experienced. Highly recommended.

A seemingly almost unknown newish place with a large variety of tasty unusual dishes. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service good. The only worry is whether it will manage to keep up the quality over time.
